Botswana faces the challenges of equitable, sustainable growth

On the sidelines of the "Africa Together" conference organized by the University of Cambridge, a bilateral meeting took place with His Excellency Ndaba Gaolathe,
Vice-President of the Republic of Botswana, and Adébissi Djogan, Founding President of Africa Political Outlook. This exchange provided an opportunity to put into perspective
Botswana's positioning in the debates on inclusive development, the continent's economic transformation and the governance of natural resources, as well as to present the work carried out by the APO following the resounding success of its summit in March 2025.

Leadership rooted in economic rigor and transparency
H.E. Ndaba Gaolathe shared Botswana's vision for reforming economic institutions and combating inequality. Discussions focused on the need to strengthen public governance frameworks and invest in regional infrastructure to support continental integration.
The Africa Political Outlook report fueled the discussions with concrete proposals to ensure sustainable growth, based on local added value and respect for environmental standards.

A committed partner for a more effective AU
The meeting also highlighted the constructive role Botswana can play in consolidating pan-African institutions. The Vice-Chairman stressed the importance of rethinking the financing of the African Union and speeding up the implementation of mechanisms for monitoring common policies.

This hearing is part of the drive to bring the strategic recommendations of the Africa Political Outlook closer to national and regional priorities, by ensuring that they are driven by committed and visionary leaders like H.E. Gaolathe.
