On the sidelines of the AU-EU Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, an audience was granted by His Excellency Ahmed Abu Zeid. The meeting between His Excellency Adébissi Djogan, President & Founder of the Africa Political Outlook, and Viwanou Gnassounou, Chairman of the Africa Political Outlook Steering Committee, provided an opportunity to discuss Egypt's strategic positioning within Africa-Europe relations, particularly in the fields of security, economic cooperation and multilateral governance.
A diplomatic power at the heart of Euro-African dialogue
The exchange provided an opportunity to underline Egypt's active contribution to regional stability and the consolidation of African institutions. The Egyptian diplomat emphasized the need to strengthen political coordination mechanisms between the AU and the EU, particularly on issues of collective security, conflict prevention and energy transition.
The Africa Political Outlook report, presented on this occasion, enriched the discussion with concrete recommendations, notably concerning the structuring of an AU-EU strategic dialogue that is more responsive and better anchored in African priorities.
Cooperation focused on African priorities
The hearing highlighted areas where Egypt can play a leveraging role: climate diplomacy, South-South cooperation, and strengthening industrial value chains on a continental scale.
Through its dual position as a major African country and a reference partner for Europe, Egypt is called upon to foster pragmatic and lasting convergence between the two continents.
